Paul S. Issler is a partner in Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher's Los Angeles office. He is a member of the firm's Tax Practice Group, with a practice emphasis on domestic and international corporate, limited liability company and partnership tax matters. Mr. Issler's practice involves diversified representations of corporations, partnerships (including private equity funds), limited liability companies and their debt and equity investors and executives. He has extensive experience in tax planning for corporate and real estate acquisitions, dispositions and reorganizations (taxable and tax free), unrelated business taxable income issues, securities offerings (including derivative securities and offerings by former S corporations), real estate investment trusts, venture capital investments and executive compensation. Mr. Issler also has extensive experience in representing insolvent or bankrupt entities and their creditors, including bankruptcy reorganizations and acquisitions of assets subject to bankruptcy proceedings.
Mr. Issler became associated with the firm in 1986, after receiving his law degree from the University of Southern California Law Center, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and Managing Editor of the Southern California Law Review. Mr. Issler received his bachelor of science degree in business administration – accounting, summa cum laude, from California State University, Northridge. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Issler worked for a "Big Eight" accounting firm, performing financial audits of privately held businesses.
